Sulphate Free - Green People Hair Care

Sulphate Free - Green People Hair Care

Have you heard of Green People? No? It's about time you did 'cause, trust, organic products are 'in' right now. I'm sure you've read a lot about SLS free shampoos and conditioners and I'm sure you know that they're supposed to be better for your hair and scalp - well that should be obvious, there are no nasties in organic hair products so they're not meant to irritate even the most sensitive scalps.
I wrote about label.m organic shampoo and conditioner a couple of weeks ago (here) and said that both products worked great. I was very pleased with how well they hydrated and cleansed my hair and that the itchiness I had had, was disappearing thanks to label.m.
Today I'm focusing on another brand 'cause you know me - I like to try various products even when I've found something that really works for me. I had a nice email chat with Green People (the company) one afternoon a few weeks ago, and they offered to send me a couple of bits to try and review. I couldn't say 'no.' In fact, I was super excited to try their SLS free hair products. But hey, let me tell you about Green People first. Or well, let me copy what they say about themselves:
'Green People is a forward-thinking company which specialises in organic body care products. With an extensive range of natural products – shampoos, face creams, sun lotions and body washes to name just a few – it is one of the biggest names in organic beauty in the UK.''Green People products offer excellent value, they are effective and concentrated so only a small amount is needed. We are proud to offer you a wide range of organic formulations that contain a very high level of active plant extracts and are expertly formulated using certified organic ingredients. Our skin care products contain over 90% active organic ingredients – compared to ‘High Street’ products which normally have an active ingredient level (non-organic) of below 6%.'

I was sent two haircare products to try - Green People Rosemary shampoo and conditioner.

They're both meant for itchy scalp and normal/oily hair so I thought 'bingo, this is just what I need!'. Both products smell amazing - think rosemary and lavender - and you only need a tiny amount to create a lather. I didn't get it at first as the consistency of the shampoo is a bit - what's the word? - thick, slightly gooey and it at the first sight, it does not look like a product that would foam up easily. Well, don't be fooled and/or put off - it does lather up nicely and is very easy to spread.

So do the Rosemary shampoo & conditioner do what they promise to do?

Yes, they soothe and yes, they clean my hair and scalp really nicely. But wait, did you notice what it says on the shampoo bottle? You get 600-800mls of most conventinal shampoos in this 200ml tube. How come? 'Cause it lathers so well! I am shocked, in a good way of course, because most SLS free products don't really foam up and I always end up using way too much of them. I do not know how Green People did it but whatever and however they did, they did a great job at making this shampoo so very 'bubbly.'
So yes, two excellent products. My scalp's happy and hasn't itched since I-don't-remember-when and my hair's alright too. The conditioner provides just enough moisture and I find it quite refreshing too - think it's the rosemary in both products. Whenever I use these, I feel like they energise my head. Ha, did that sound odd? I imagine that 'revitalised hair' is the kind of hair I'm sporting at the moment - healthy, content and in quite passable condition. What's not to like?
Oh yes, and I've got to mention the 'for normal/oily hair' part. Do Green People's Rosemary products keep my hair fresher for longer? No, I still wash it every day. But but but, I'm happy as long as my hair's clean for 24 hours and these two manage that.

Wanna explore what other lovely products Green People have got to offer? Then head here. There's so much good stuff and I feel like I want most things (note to self: 'stop browsing, woman!').
